Expedition Bibshort

I was just about to drop £160 on a pair of Assos gravel short, then I saw these in the summer sale. These are my first foray into lycra with pockets.
The good - definitely worth the money (only £60 in the sale). I definitely don't regret buying them at that price, and will wear them until they're worn out. The pad is perfectly good. No pressure points. All three pockets are secure. The two leg pockets also add some warmth and would help the shorts survive a crash. Shorts pockets are really useful - I should have tried them sooner. The fit is correct as per the sizing chart.
The bad - nothing is really bad, but these are the weaknesses. The raw cut bib straps are fiddly to put on and seem delicate. The fit is good but not perfect, because as soon as you remove the bib straps the shorts very rapidly try to slide down. There is also a bit of excess fabric bunching at the front top edge.
I attend to use these shorts as for my regular evening rides and medium length rides, so I can keep my Assos for big full day rides.
So most definitely worth £60, probably worth £100 to be honest, but not comparable to the best shorts available.

Comfortable, great feel. Pad is very good. I went down a size compared to other shorts, and this worked well. Great value at sale price.

Not too impressed, pad is good, straps are poor ( cheap) good value at the sale price but wouldn’t pay the full price….

Great bib. Good for multi hour ride. Size M has wider grippers (then size S) that do the trick. Pockets are great and fit suits me fine.

Pad is strange and totally not for my a** shape. Never had problems with other producers. Seems like too much material in the middle. Bibs are not breathing so I do not recommend for racers.

I have the previous expedition bib and this new bib with the levitate plus chamois. The new chamois is definitely better but the grips of the new bib are bad. After two weeks on my trip to North Cape through Sweden the silicone pads are coming off. Hence the 'legs' creep up and the chamois moves into a different position. The only thing i can do now is give the legs an extra twist so they are tighter and stay, at least some time, in place. So, 'not impressed' is the best I can make of it.
Only cold washes and no sunscreen on the grippers.
I am stiill 3 weeks away from North Cape and have to look for replacement bibs. So I am not too happy.
With good grippers these bibs would get 5 stars from me.

Can't wait to wear these. Fit as usual with PI is great and the three pockets will be great for long rides on holiday in Majorca. Had my eyes on these for a while, so pleased to get them for a discounted end of season price.

The bib feels good. There’s only one thing, it’s made for long rides and on long rides you need to pee sometimes. Thee belly is too high so you have two choices, undress or stretch one of the legs… both not recommendable.

Next time I choose one with a lower belly.
